The home in Carlinville, Illinois, which appeared on the US property site earlier this week, listed at $169,000, with owners Danielle, 40, and Owen Sullivan, 53, deciding to give their listing a homage to one of the most popular Halloween films of all time.

Leaving social media users appropriately freaked out, the images feature a person dressed as Michael Myers, the killer from the movie Halloween, complete with a white mask and knife in hand.

It is likely no coincidence that this month includes the very same date (next Friday 13 May).

Creepy and potentially murderous houseguest aside, let’s take a look at the property itself.

It’s a spacious home, featuring four bedrooms and bathrooms (two full bath, two half bath), across 2,750 sq ft.

The pièce de résistance is the kitchen, which has French doors leading to the courtyard and a breakfast bar/island.

The property, which has been designed with families in mind, is in need of a bit of an update but is brimming with potential and could serve as the perfect renovation project.

Outside, you have a gorgeous deck and garden space, as well as cute stone steps leading to the home.

It’s unclear whether the creepy character will remain in the property (let’s hope not) but he certainly takes centre stage in the images.

In one shot, he ‘hides’ behind a curtain, while elsewhere he sits ominously in the background, legs crossed and intently staring at the camera.

One particularly gruesome-looking photo has him sat on the stairs, holding a knife, as well as another image which just shows his legs and the tip of the blade.

The home was shared on Instagram, where it has racked up over 33,000 likes so far, with social media users cracking up in the comments and making references to horror films.

“But why is Michael Meyers in socks and no shoes?,” one person questioned, mentioning the character from the 1978 film Halloween.

Come and knock on our door… we’ve been waiting for you… ,” quips someone else, referencing a popular theme song.

“But WHYYYYYY?!?!,” questioned another user.

“I hate every single picture,” wrote someone else who didn’t seem to enjoy the horror element.

“So long as he cooks and cleans, we will have no problems,” added another person, including a crying laughing emoji.

“Seems like a nice roommate,” commented someone else.

Others were fine with the killer, but claimed they were more scared by the home’s interior.

“The only scary thing is those cut closet doors in the second to last photo,” one user wrote.

“That bathroom is the true horror,” added someone else.
