A personal trainer has revealed how you can get the highly coveted Brazilian body – by working out like the locals do.
Fafa Araujo, 36, was born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but has lived in Chicago since 2011.
The fitness model, who goes by the name Fafa Fitness, has been on the gym scene for 25 years, having helped “thousands” of people change their body shapes.
Fafa is also a social media sensation, with 243,000 followers on Instagram (@fafafitness11), where she regularly shares tips and tricks, and photos from her own gruelling workout routines.
And when it comes to getting the ‘Brazilian body’, she is an expert – with a very specific approach.
According to the trainer, in order to get these type of curves, you need to train “Brazilian style”.
“The unique thing about Brazilian style training is that we focus on the lower body,” Fafa told Jam Press.
“We like to look thicker on our lower body and we work out for the curves.
“It’s all the curves that give me the ‘Brazilian Booty’ look.
“Although we also care about beauty such as our skin, hair, nails, and all
of that stuff.
“You see a lot of women with muscle but you don’t always see the whole package!”
Fafa focuses on a specific method known as the ‘Brazilian Split’, whereby she splits up the lower body workouts into quads, hamstrings, glutes, and then upper body and repeats the exercises.
The model trains six to seven days a week for two to three hours but always makes sure to listen to her body.
If she needs to take a day off, then she will.
She said: “Most people just train legs one day and upper body the next and that is why you don’t see many people with a lot of curves like the Brazilians.
“I love to train everything.
“I believe that in order to have a well-balanced physique, you need to train all parts of your body at the same intensity.
“Although if I had to pick my favourite, it would be glutes and calves.”
As for getting a killer booty, her top exercises are hip thrusts, cable donkey kicks, sumo squats and deadlifts.
She also makes sure to regularly use the outer thigh machine to build up her bum.
When it comes to her diet, Fafa uses carb cycling, which involves going back and forth between high-carb days and low-carb days.
The trainer eats six meals a day but enjoys a ‘cheat meal’ on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
She said: “I don’t lose weight by carb cycling and I enjoy having a cheeseburger and french fries for my cheat meal.
“On a normal day, I will have a pre-workout meal of a protein shake with cream of rice, protein powder, and unsweetened almond milk.
“Then, after working out, I’ll have rice, chicken or steak, and broccoli.
“Later, I’ll have my third meal of eggs and asparagus and then a fourth meal of a protein shake with some fruit.
“For my fifth meal, I have rice, fish, and broccoli and for my sixth and final meal, I have avocado and five egg whites.”
Last year, Fafa decided to get into “the best shape of her life” by following her very own eight-week workout programme.
She credits “dedication, consistency and drive,” for whipping her into shape, along with consistent training and eating right.
The fitness trainer added: “My motivation for all of this is to help people.
“I love to help others achieve their goals, not only physically but mentally too!”
