An urban explorer has found the abandoned home of a “hoarder” – full to the brim with old clothes, rotten food, stuffed birds and artwork dating back to the mid-19th century.
Daniel Sims, 33, explored the Nottinghamshire property recently, filming the visit for his YouTube channel, BeardedReality.
“I was told about this place by a fellow explorer so decided to check it out – all I knew was that it was abandoned and full of things from head-to-toe,” Daniel told Jam Press.
In his YouTube video, Daniel and friend Mick entered the home via an open window and, once inside, found it jam packed full of items.
Daniel said: “At the start [we] were quite nervous – you never know what you might find. We realised the power was still working which was odd.
“Inside we were super surprised to find rare art dating back to the 1850s and 1900s.
“We also found ribbons and trophies from what I can only guess are riding clubs – there were hundreds of them.
“There were also vintage games and even stuffed birds in one of the rooms.
“We also found creepy dolls and lots of horse-relating material.
“The place was full and felt quite claustrophobic as we literally had to climb over so many things just to film it.”
In the kitchen, the duo also found food left to rot.
Daniel said: “The place did smell pretty bad with the used clothes lying around for god knows how long, and the kitchen was the worst part with the mouldy food sat undisturbed for so long – the smell filled the rooms.”
It is not known why the property was abandoned or who the former owner was, but Daniel believes they must have been an “extreme hoarder” to have so many possessions left stacked in the house.
