It’s been a hot topic throughout the trial of Amber Heard vs Johnny Depp – and now you can see inside the penthouse complex where the actress allegedly struck the Hollywood veteran.

The former couple – who were married for 15 months from 2015 – lived together at the Eastern Columbia Building in downtown Los Angeles, where Depp owned a collection of five penthouses.

The defamation trial yesterday (2 May) heard testimony from Depp’s security guard, who intervened in an altercation between the two on 23 March 2015 after 4am.

Travis McGivern, the security guard, described how fights escalated and claims one such incident turned physical – with Heard allegedly throwing a Red Bull can and bag at Depp, before “spitting” at him.

McGivern said Depp then went upstairs and threw her clothes and bags down.

Later, he described Heard allegedly punching Depp.

He said “We were in the office level, the middle level. She was agitated. Mr Depp was agitated. I felt it was time to get Mr Depp out of the situation.

“I stepped in between Ms Heard and Mr Depp, telling Mr Depp we were leaving and it wasn’t up to him anymore.

“At that point out of the corner of my eye I saw a fist and an arm come across my right shoulder and I heard and saw a closed fist contact Mr Depp in the left side of his face.”

McGivern confirmed he believed Heard’s fist was the one to hit Depp.

The alleged incident occurred in one of the apartments owned by the couple – with Depp later listing and selling them in 2016 following his split from Heard.

Prior to the sale, pictures were released of the luxe property – with the five apartments on the penthouse floor remaining slightly separated and each decorated in Depp’s trademark eccentric style.

Quirky features include zebra wallpaper, a huge quirky mural in the dining room, a cosy den-style lounge with plush armchairs and a huge cinema-style screen, as well as a funky orange and blue bedroom, and industrial kitchen.

The home also comes with all the luxury trappings fitting of Hollywood royalty – including a stunning rooftop swimming pool.

There is even a nod to Depp’s Pirates of the Caribbean fame, with framed pictures of an old ship and a cartoon pirate with a hooked hand.

The properties were sold for a collective $19 million.
