A woman on TikTok has been dubbed a “catfish” after revealing her makeup-free face.

Julia Grandoni, from Quebec, Canada, took part in a viral trend on the app, sharing a snap of herself glammed up for a night out with her hair down and clad in a tight black dress.

She then filmed herself lying in bed without any makeup, and mouthing along to song lyrics “girl that’s not me” and giggling.

The popular clip racked up 1.9 million likes and was viewed 12 million times, with users divided in the comments section.

One person said: “I’ll never date again.”

“Gotta be illegal,” another user added.

Someone else commented: “This is why guys need to take girls swimming before committing to a relationship.”

“This is why I have trust issues,” agreed one viewer.

Another user said: “I’m scared to meet women now.”

“My makeup doesn’t do that,” commented another follower.

Another user called her a “shape shifter”.

Meanwhile other viewers were more supportive, sharing their own similar experiences.

One person said: “I get this. Once my neighbor came to the door and asked for my “sister”. I have NO sister! She was used to seeing glammed up me not nerd me.”

“I love that you show your face with no makeup! We need to normalize that natural is also beautiful,” said another user.

Someone else added: “That happened to me several years ago. A repair man that was in the house saw a picture of me on the mantle & asked who was that? I said it’s me!”

“I’m kinda scared for the men but how are that talented,” commented another viewer.

For Julia, it was important to embrace her natural side publicly.

“I decided to make this so I could show people that I am comfortable in my own skin,” she told NeedToKnow.online.

“To show them that I don’t need makeup it’s important to show others that themselves should be comfortable in their own skin.

“It takes me two hours usually to get ready – to put on full glam and extensions.

“The reaction was pretty good at the start, but later on people started to think different how I’m just some catfish.

“The angle I used at the end of my video was total over exaggerated and it was to perceive that I am ugly IN BIG but other than that it doesn’t take much for me to look the way I usually do – I usually never wear makeup.”
